Doe Lake Campground
Doe Lake is a group campsite centered around a classic 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps dining hall. Located in north central Florida,
the Ocala National Forest spans four counties and 383,000 acres. It is the southernmost and oldest national forest east of the Mississippi River
and protects the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest. It is truly majestic. Selah.
We toured dozens of parks all over Florida looking for the right spot to get hitched. Along the way we found some amazing and beautiful new places to visit,
but Doe Lake stuck out like a rose in a dune. It was beautiful and had all the right stuff. Probably foremost, it's a lakeside campground we'll have to ourselves
nestled in a wild pine forest, and again, it's beautiful. Plus, while the scenery and camping are rustic, they have showers and restrooms! We'll stock the
kitchen with fixin's for pbjs and s'mores, and we'll bring plenty of firewood for the pit. There will be music in the dining hall (as sweet and soft or late and
loud as we want!), and Doe Lake is ready for your kayak, canoe, paddle-board, or fishing-lure. If you're feeling spry, the local area has a variety of outdoor adventures to
choose from, including zip-lining, horsing around, and more. For the kids, the snipe-hunting is very good around camp, but stay close to an adult, because
it's Wild Florida - Gators and Boars and Bears, oh my!
The welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception are all on-site at Doe Lake. We invite guests to camp with us and make a weekend of it. There is room for all our guests
to tie up a hammock or pitch a tent! RVs are welcome, too (but no hookups.) Please let us know if you plan to camp! If you'd prefer air conditioned amenities,
there are hotels and b&bs within a 30 minute [please be responsible] drive. Also, we recognize air-travelers and novice campers may have trouble bringing all the gear they need to camp comfortably.
If you think you will need something or can bring something extra to help others out, let us know on the camper form!
We can't wait to boogie into this new chapter of our lives with you!
